About ten minutes from Cap Fréhel's surf-spots are these 'Golden Sands’. A strong north-westerly (cross-on from the left) sees head-high waves roll up the beach, with shorebreak at high tide. Otherwise it’s more of a freeride spot, although onshore winds and the swimming zone aren't ideal for kiting. Launching is possible in north-easterly thermals in the left-hand side of the bay, where the water’s also flatter.
