It needs to blow for a few days before waves start to build here. Conditions aren't great in a cross-shore westerly as the waves break all over the place. But Saint-Aubin shows real potential in a south-westerly: cross-off winds hold up glassy walls of water – a dream come true for waveriders! Best conditions for four hours around high tide, then at low water there’s another break on an outer sandbank. A big car-park with grass for rigging is the icing on the cake. Unfortunately the beach gets super-busy in summer, and the local fishermen do have a habit of laying their nets close to shore. West out of town, 'Sausemare' can provide kiters with some space for themselves.
