Sennen Cove

The nearest beach to Land's End is a very popular surf spot with a lot of swell, especially in summer – although it does get packed with tourists so kiting is banned at peak times. Windsurfing is best at low tide in cross-offshore winds: southerlies accelerate over the cliff with an extra jet effect. Offshore easterlies can be epic but gusty, and it's next stop America if anything goes wrong! Fun in onshore winds as it picks up a bit more breeze and swell than anywhere else. The beach boasts all the facilities you could wish for, but the surrounding rocks aren't so hospitable – as the shipwreck near the lifeboat station proves. The secret reef-breaks nearby are only ever sailed by top-flight locals.
