Shoebury East Beach
Thames Estuary
Auszug aus dem KITE AND WINDSURFING GUIDE:
Next to the military firing range on Foulness Island, East Beach has a large car-park, grass for rigging and a coastguard station. A very popular spot, in a strong north-easterly wind there can be hundreds enjoying bump-&-jump conditions at high tide. From mid to low tide various kite schools and plenty of local kiters walk out across the sands to ride shallow lagoons – access is regulated by Essex Kitesurf Club. The main drawback is that windsurfers can only sail 4-5 hours per tide, the main danger a wooden Second World War anti-submarine 'boom' extending a mile out to sea!
