Son Bou

Son Bou is the island’s biggest beach, and hence the most popular with local kiters year-round. Only in places do a few obvious rocks lie in the crystal-clear water. North-westerly blows cross-shore, delivering a few waves for jumping and short rides in enough wind. The launch is easy as the waves break on an offshore sandbar. And they break very powerfully – if the impact zone gets too gnarly, you might want to move over to 'Sant Tomás'. In southerly to westerly winds and no swell, Son Bou also offers good freeride. The ideal south to south-south-easterly thermal blows strongest here and at 'Sant Tomàs'. In summer the best kite launch is from the naturist zone, right up the beach beyond the rocks.
