Steinmarne

This one’s in front of an extensive dune landscape, steeped in rich history. Even better, 200m of standing-depth water stretches 3km along the coast. This place also dries out at low tide, yet its shallow depth hosts surprisingly steep waves (up to 1.5m) in strong winds. This is because of its proximity to the Elbe Estuary, a Cuxhaven landmark that’s adorned baked goods since the 1800s. When the wind blows against the Elbe’s flow it creates a small cross-sea, perfect for lift-off. Quick-witted kiters will enjoy the long hang-time while windsurfers talk of huge long-jump records. Just like Grimmershörner, it’s a 500m trek to the water here.
