It might look ordinary at first glance, but Strand is easy to get to from Kiel and – unusually for around here – it's sailable in a southerly. Not so many realise it’s worth visiting in strong north to north-easterly winds too. If it blows for long, clean waves form in the bay to practice your bottom turns on. Beware of rocks and groynes in the water though!
