North-facing, shallow and sandy Thorness Bay is a great place for beginners, freeriders and freestylers. Although you'll have to drive through an ugly holiday park to get there, the launch amidst an unspoilt Site of Special Scientific Interest is a chilled-out place to be. Just keep away from those currents in the deep water channel, which really aren't so relaxing!
