Thorpe Bay
Thames Estuary
Auszug aus dem KITE AND WINDSURFING GUIDE:
East of Southend, there's plenty of parking and a grassy rigging area beside Thorpe Bay Yacht Club. A great mid-tide spot, this south-facing beach offers flat, waist-deep water and a sandy bottom. High tide gets rougher, particularly in a strong south-westerly wind when a flooding tide can form cresting waves over sandbanks a mile offshore. Those banks expose towards low tide, and kiters launch further east beyond 'Uncle Tom's Cabin' to ride the butter-flat channels.
