Trabucador

Costa Dorada & Delta del Ebre

Auszug aus dem KITE AND WINDSURFING GUIDE:

Any talk of kiting in the Delta del Ebro will mean the kilometre-long sandbar of Trabucador which offers plenty of space and wind for everyone, even in high summer. With its consistently shallow water, the lagoon offers ideal beginner conditions while experienced riders also enjoy perfect flat water. Nowadays there's a kite centre (complete with beach-bar!) whose students launch to the right of the jetty, everyone else keeps left where the water's deep enough for windsurf fins. All wind directions are rideable, and the southerly summer thermal is the strongest in the region as it feeds into the flat delta. It's still not as strong as in the Gulf of Roses though. In wintertime it’s more north-westerly Mistral or easterly Levante, which delivers chaotic waves as it blows onshore to the ocean side. Electric powerlines along the beach then become a hazard for kiters, although hopefully they will soon be buried underground. In fierce winter storms this whole spit is prone to flooding.
