World-famous for its golf courses, Troon attracts its fair share of kiters and windsurfers too as it's just 45 minutes from Glasgow. Although sheltered from most groundswell, 'South Bay' works well in prevailing south-westerly winds. The waves are biggest at high tide yet steepest at low water, which can be quite a walk away. And watch your step, as there are a few sharp rocks in the sand!
