In a south-westerly the region's cleanest waves break beneath Trouville's traditional architecture. The north-easterly summer thermal doesn't blow through here, but increases with every kilometre further west – it can be barely 5 knots here when Courseulles is blowing a solid 20. The whole Calvados region is firmly in the grip of Parisian society, so rules are unavoidable on and around the beach: bathing areas are off limits for kiters in summertime.
