Consider giving Ventimiglia-Nervia a go in low-pressure west to south-westerly winds. But don’t take it too lightly, as the shorebreak is heavy and there's a big breakwater about 600m downwind. Four or five times a year, west to south-westerly days can even get up to mast-high; easterly means freeride conditions. The locals are hospitable, but they do expect some eco-friendliness – they’ve managed to get the region designated as a nature reserve, but keeping it beautiful is a team effort. The beach is narrow with a wall behind it. There's an alternate launch on a slightly wider beach east of the rivermouth beyond the harbour.
