Although the Nortada's too weak for kiting here, a westerly summer sea breeze sometimes builds enough for big kites. Although it was still very popular a few years ago, most riders now prefer the sandbank at Faro where there's more space and the westerly thermal's more reliable. It's a different story in winter as southerly low-pressure winds can deliver waves too. A breakwater protects the beach, although a couple of rocks expose in the middle at low tide.
