Vuurtoren

This combination spot is by the red brick lighthouse just west of Ouddorp. Off the beach a mainly shallow lagoon fills at high tide – a real playground, especially for kiting. 1.5km further out, play turns serious over a string of sandbars extending all the way to 'Renesse'. Experienced riders enjoy great waveriding on ebb tide in south to south-westerly winds. The current pulls strongly out to sea though – and the break is way offshore, so never venture out alone! Be warned that the sandbar is technically a nature reserve that's off limits: sometimes a patrol boat even issues fines!
