West Wittering

West Wittering has been a Great British windsurfing institution for over 30 years. Its biggest draw is that it works in all tidal states – low water means waist-deep water in a lagoon called 'The Trench' that's super-flat for freestlye, it gets choppy at mid-tide, with decent waves developing at high. Best in west or north-westerly wind on an incoming tide, which produces excellent jumping conditions – maybe the finest on the South Coast. Renowned for its sands and unspoilt beauty, West Wittering was voted best beach by 'Keep Britain Tidy’. Summertime access is for WWWC members only, although you can pay to become a guest.
